With overall new sales of GVW 8 vehicles down from 2013, manufacturers are seeing a sales decrease in most of their products. However, some products are defying this trend and selling more despite the overall sales drop. A common denominator that seems to affect a number of manufacturers products that are performing well is the Cummins 8.9 L Series engine.

The Cummins 8.9 L Series engine is equipped in some manufacturers products such as Peterbilt, Mack, Kenworth, Freightliner, Crane Carrier and more. Overall, products with this engine are experiencing a sales increase of nearly 70 percent.

With these stats running from January through April for both years, no other engine across all manufacturers is showing an increase in sales remotely close to the Cummins turbocharged straight-six diesel. Of the 28 other engines tracked, only 4 are showing an increase in sales.
