Carbon can also affect the side of the piston when it rubs up and down on the liner. This polishes the ring, rubbing the crosshatch out of the liner.
With the new piston and liner combination, it’s designed so that when the piston comes to the top of its travel, it moves through the anti-polish ring. Doing so knocks the carbon off the piston and keeps your ISX running for miles to come.
