What VGT options do I have?
As we said, we have a ton of options for you! We carry everything from a complete turbocharger all the way down to a rebuild kit and everything in between. Our options now include:
- Rebuild kits
- Cartridges
- Short turbos
- Long turbos
- Actuators
Here at Highway & Heavy Parts, we've pretty much stayed away from variable geometry turbos for a long time, until something came along that met or exceeded OEM specifications. We don't want to sell you turbos that would just cause you even more problems.
We're finally at that point.
We've got excellent quality turbochargers and the service to back it up. And we're excited to be able to bring them to you!
Why have VGTs been so difficult in the past?
The root of this problem lies in part with the fact that so much information about properly diagnosing VGTs has not been shared. But we're going to help you with the diagnosis and we're going to make sure that your turbo gets installed correctly.
With all the information out there that the OEMs keep to themselves, it really makes things hard for you. They're just not passing it along. There's service parts topics on how to install these turbochargers and how to make them work, but they're not giving them to you when you go to the OEM.
They're selling you a turbocharger for $3,000-$5,000 and they know you'll be back. You're going to have problems with that turbo, because it's so hard to get to the bottom of the problem with these.
That's where we come in. We want it to go in and we want it to go in correctly. We want to make sure that you don't have any problems.
We've got the service parts topics and we've got the knowledge. We're here to help.
As we've mentioned in past posts, variable geometry turbos are a very complicated part of the diesel engine, which can lead to a high failure rate (more moving parts, more possible failure points). Want more info on VGTs now? Read our blog about the basics of variable geometry turbochargers!
