Is this kit for your diesel engine? Here's some ways you might be able to identify whether or not this kit will work on your CAT. As the "T" and "A" in the title indicate, this kit is going to fit the turbocharged, after-cooled engine.
You'll commonly find this kit in skid steers and generators. So, if you're running a skid steer or a generator, you might have a CAT C2.2 T/A diesel engine.

What's In This Diesel Engine Rebuild Kit?
So, what exactly are you going to get with this kit? Well, everything you need to get your diesel engine up and running again.
This kit is going to come complete with your piston kits. These kits include the pistons, wrist pins, retainers, and ring sets. You're also going to get an overhaul gasket set. This means everything you need to take this thing apart, reseal it, and put it back together, which includes your front and rear crank seals.
You're going to get a complete valve train kit to rebuild your cylinder head, as well as a complete lower end bearing kityour rod bearings, your main bearings, your thrust bearings. You'll also get your connecting rod bushings and crankshaft bushings.
This kit also comes with your connecting rod bolts and nuts. So, essentially, it's everything you need to get this thing ready for another life cycle.
Caterpillar Diesel Engine Serial Number
When you're looking for a rebuild kit for your CAT engine, you need to have your engine serial number to ensure you're getting a kit that fits your engine properly.
CAT engines are actually pretty consistent as to where you can find your ESN. It should be on the dataplate located on the driver side of the valve cover. The engine serial number itself follows a similar format amongst the engines as well.
Usually, the CAT ESN a three-character prefix (6NZ, MBN, etc.) followed by 7 digits. It's likely you've heard engines referred to simply by their prefix. This is especially true of the more popular applications, like the 6NZ. Knowing this, it's easier for you to identify which number is actually your ESN.
Even though it might be annoying to have to find your ESN, it can help save you a lot of difficulty later on. With your ESN, you can be sure that you're getting the right parts for your engine. This will save you time and money later, as you won't have to worry about re-ordering and shipping back parts.
