Confirming a CAT C15 ACERT Fuel Injector Failure

There are a few things that can go wrong and cause a fuel injector failure. For example, the injectors can fail electronically. This would be caused by a bad solenoid.

You might also have a mechanical failure. If this is the case, oftentimes it's due to debris, water, air, or other contamination of the fuel injector.

It's also possible to have expanded clearances. This might be caused by extended service intervals of the injector.

If you notice any of the symptoms we listed, check these areas first. It can help you diagnose your failure more quickly. If your tests confirm a failure, you're in need of a new set of fuel injectors.

What About the Trim Codes for My CAT C15 ACERT?

So, what is a trim code?

Trim codes, also known as trim files, are codes that are input to determine how long an injector injects fuel. This helps to keep injection consistent, despite differences in machine tolerances, friction, and magnetic forces between some injectors. This helps to keep your engine running at its best.
