How our XPI injectors get tested

When you’re looking for injectors for your diesel engine, we know you want the best.

But, with all the different kinds of injectors out there, how do you know you’re getting the best?

Cummins, for instance, has made a lot of changes in its injector design through the years, the latest of which is their XPI injector.

We’ve talked about XPI injectors and what makes them so great before. This cutting edge fuel injector technology for Cummins engines eliminates the need for an entire camshaft by delivering higher amounts of pressure than previous injectors, as well as being extremely long-lasting.

In this article, we’re looking at how these injectors need to be tested and why it matters for the life of the injector.

Benefits of XPI Injectors

One of the greatest benefits of XPI injectors is their longevity.

These are the longest-lasting injectors we’ve ever seen. They can easily last over a million miles with no problems.

XPI injectors can actually make it 10 years without needing to be replaced because of their unique construction and precision-built parts that have never before been seen in injectors.

Servicing XPI Injectors

As we mentioned, XPI injectors are the latest development in fuel injectors, and because of this they need to be serviced differently.

The needle, nozzle, and ball seat all require special machinery to build. Your average rebuilding company just doesn’t have access to this specialized equipment.

This is because they need to be fine-tuned down to fractions of an inch that most machinery can’t support.

HHP has access to the cutting edge technology needed to build these injectors correctly.

Rebuilding XPI Injectors

A huge advantage of XPI injectors is they provide efficiency and quality you just can’t get with other injectors. The needle on these can move up to 5 times per stroke, which can add up to over 5 billion cycles over 5 years of operation.

This longevity can’t be maintained if your XPI injectors were rebuilt without the crucial needle, nozzle, and seat that can only be manufactured with specialized equipment.

HHP Testing Methods

So, what makes our testing methods so unique?

  1. We’re the only supplier who makes sure EVERY injector has new nozzle assemblies.
  2. We source injectors from vendors that have poured more than $250,000 in development just for XPI injectors.
  3. We have quality assurance on each individual injector.
  4. The components measured in microns are each individually tested before assembly.
  5. We use custom testing stands that are XPI Injector specific.
  6. Each injector is tested for 100% quality assurance.
