What Makes XPI Injectors Different?

Fuel injectors have seen many changes through the years, and finding the right ones for your engine can be a chore.

We’re here to help! We want to make sure you’re getting the best information on diesel engine parts so you can shop for components with confidence.

Not all fuel injectors are built the same, and we know that you want the best for your Cummins diesel engine.

That’s where the XPI (extreme pressure injector) comes in. It is the latest in the evolution of injectors for Cummins engines.

This injector is different from the high-pressure injector, its predecessor, because it offers higher amounts of pressure and eliminates the need for an entire camshaft.

What else sets XPI injectors apart? We’re taking you through the differences!

How Previous Fuel Injectors Worked

In the past, a camshaft controlled your engine’s injection pressure. That camshaft would rotate, timed to the piston travel, controlling the injection pressure.

Because the fuel system incorporated a lot of moving parts, it was difficult to precisely control injection timing.

Removing a Camshaft

Moving from a dual cam engine to a single cam engine meant that the injection camshaft was eliminated. A common rail fuel system using these injectors was introduced instead.

In this common rail system, you have a high-pressure pump on the side of the engine that pressurizes the fuel before it reaches the injectors.

The natural next step, then, was creating an injector that amplified this pressure, allowing for an increase in engine performance and fuel economy.

What’s Unique About XPI Injectors?

XPI Injectors for Cummins ISX engines have 28 unique components, with each of these featuring exact dimensions measured in microns. This unit of measurement is tiny—the average strand of human hair is 70 microns thick.

This latest development in Cummins fuel system technology moves toward a more refined combustion process within your diesel engine. This brings you increased fuel economy, better engine performance, and reduced emissions.

What Are the Benefits of XPI Injectors From HHP?

HHP sells injectors built from individual components to create a new injector. We don’t just use an old core, setting us apart from other shops.

These injectors are state of the art and deserve to be tested as such. We make sure they’re tested on custom XPI testing equipment, rather than just sticking them on the generic injector testing equipment.

Shopping for XPI injectors from HHP gives you not only OEM quality, but all the benefits we’re committed to bringing you, like dedicated diagnosis assistance from ASE Certified Sales Staff, industry-leading warranty programs, and injectors from a parts supplier dedicated to getting you the right parts the first time. We’re here to take the risk out of buying diesel engine parts.

We don’t want to just sell you any part. We want to make sure you’re getting the best parts for your engine, and we want to get them to you fast.
